FCE Homework 17/5/12

'You can know everything about a person, at least all the important details in 4 minutes.'

This is the premise of most speed dating organisations. That you can ask all the essential questions in four minutes. You participated in a 'speed dating' take on the first part of the FCE exam last Thursday so what do you think?

Write an essay on this topic, look at our guide or get someone else to do it for you. I want you to include in the essay who you would like to take into the exam with you based on the 4 minute activity we did in class last Thursday.

So
  1. Give your opinion and roughly/broadly say why.
  2. Discuss what we did on Thursday and talk about the different experiences of speaking to different people and what you gained from the experience.
  3. Conclude by saying who you would take with you into the FCE exam, part 1, or by rejecting the question and saying you would like the surprise of a stranger.
N.B. It might be helpful to read the presentation on All and Every, the one with the Gorilla!

See you on Tuesday. David

  1. Our life is plenty of moments that define and change us, a song, a film, other person etc. So knowing well a person takes much time that what we think and often when we think we know very well a person, he or she surprise us with something new. In four minutes we can only know some music, some films he or he likes and maybe some others tastes but you won’t know this person as much as you would like in 4 minutes.
On Thursday night every FCE student in the academy did a sort of speed dating to practice for the part one of the oral exam and it was funny but, do we really know each other better than before that? I guess no.
If I had to choose one of them for the oral exam I don’t know who I would choose since I felt confident with everyone but if I had to choose I would prefer someone in my class rather than a stranger.

    1. Great Angel, well done. Did you know you can now post the article on the blog rather than writing in the comments section.

Just accept the invitation I sent you and you can post the work like Paul did in the main comments section of the blog. If you need any help, just send me an email.

      David
